Services

The Bucks County SPCA performs a vital public service in assuming responsibility for approximately 3,500 to 4,500 lost, injured or unwanted animals yearly. We admit any animal brought into the shelter although we cannot guarantee it's adoption. We routinely pick up injured strays from all over the Bucks County region with our emergency service. It operates 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year. Below are some of the most frequently asked questions that we receive at the shelter.

The Bucks County SPCA offers the following services...

  • Placement of adoptable animals in selected, permanent homes.
  • Rescue and shelter of unwanted, injured or mistreated animals.
  • Round the clock emergency service for injured strays and SPCA tag calls.
  • Investigation of complaints of cruelty with correction, where possible, through education, and when necessary, through prosecution.
  • Education at all age levels to promote responsible pet ownership and inform the public of animal issues.
  • The sale of current Dog Licenses.
  • Have-A-Heart Humane Trap Rentals.
  • Euthanasia, by injection, at the request of the owner. (No other method is used.)
  • Private cremation upon request.
  • Temporary holding of animals with a referral from the Red Cross or other social service agencies.
  • Behavior counseling to help maintain animal-human bond.

The Bucks County SPCA has for sale crates, brushes, dishes and litter boxes that may be purchased by anyone adopting a pet.
