Humane Education

Bucks County SPCA provides a wide variety of comprehensive Humane Education programs to suit the needs of each audience. Humane education is extremely important in shaping the future of our society. The respect and empathy for animals that children develop today will encourage them to be compassionate throughout their lives. There are no charges or fees for our Humane Education programs, but donations are always greatly appreciated.

Shelter Tours

Guided tours of Bucks County SPCA are available for all interested groups. This 45 minute tour will teach attendees about our shelter and the animals we help, as well as how they are able to help animals in our community. Tours held for Boy and Girl Scout troops include information and lessons that are required for badges that the scouts will earn.   If your group has a specific topic that they need to learn about, please be sure to let us know when scheduling your tour. Educational materials can be provided to attendees upon request. Tours are only held during our normal weekday operating hours. Please be sure to schedule your tour at least 30 days in advance.  Direct interactions with the animals at our shelter during the tour cannot be guaranteed. (Please contact our Humane Education Director for more information)

We are proud to have four Humane Education Dogs who “work” for our shelter. Each of them has a wonderful story that will showcase the work of Bucks County SPCA.
